Heparin sodium is an anticoagulant. Heparin sodium has anticoagulant effect both in vivo and in vitro. Clinically, it is used for the prevention and treatment of thrombosis and other thromboembolic diseases, such as myocardial infarction, thrombophlebitis, pulmonary embolism, and disseminated intravascular coagulation caused by various causes. It can also be used for hemodialysis, extracorporeal circulation catheterization, microvascular surgery and other operations, as well as anticoagulation treatment of some blood samples and instruments.
Heparin sodium can be used for deep subcutaneous injection, intravenous injection, or intravenous drip. It should be noted that when used for preventive treatment, such as for high-risk thrombus patients, it is mostly used for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis after abdominal surgery. The main side effect is spontaneous bleeding at high doses, so the patient's clotting time should be measured before each heparin administration. If the injection causes severe bleeding, protamine can be injected intravenously for first aid. Specific medication should be combined with clinical practice, and the doctor's face-to-face consultation and guidance shall prevail.
