Simultaneous use of agents that affect hemostasis, such as thrombolytic agents, acetylsalicylic acid, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, vitamin K antagonists, and dextran, may enhance the anticoagulant effect of heparin sodium.
However, low doses of acetylsalicylic acid may be taken orally in patients with unstable coronary artery disease (e.g., unstable angina and non-q-wave myocardial infarction), with special contraindications.
